Alumni

PHS Alumni step out and step up to benefit our schools.

This fall, PHS alumni have been busy participationg in class reunions and reconnecting with their peers!  Since August 2010 – the classes of 1950, 1965, 1975, 1980 and 1990 have taken tours of the PHS facilities, marveling at the new library, gym performing arts complex, as well as new science labs.  The class of 1975 purchased a seat in the performing arts complex’s auditorium as part of the TAKE A SEAT CAMPAIGN.  The Class of 1959 has given a special gift honoring their 50th reunion.  Their generous donation of $2,500 will support PEF’s mission through nameing the choral shell after Nancianne Parrella, former PHS choral director, and will purchase recording microphones for the music department.

Looking to re-connect with old classmates? Check out the new PRS Alumni website.

PHS Choir Alumni:

The Choir Alumni contributed over $5000 towards sponsoring the Choral Shell in honor of Nancianne Parella and Thomas Hilbish, collected at a reunion commemorating over 60 years of choral music at PHS. Nancianne Parella was the beloved associate director of the choir from 1964-1992, partnering with William Trego, the choir’s longest serving director. Thomas Hilbish served as choir director prior to Mr. Trego, from 1948 – 1963, and subsequently directed the choirs of the University of Michigan.  The Choir gift was supplemented by an equal gift from an individual donor who desired to recognize Ms. Parella.

Although Ms. Parella was unable to attend the dedication due to performing at the Spoleto Festival/USA  that weekend, Mr. Trego was on hand to witness the dedication,  as well as the naming of the auditorium in his and Anthony Biancosino’s  (long time PHS studio Band director) honor.

The Class of 1971 also contributed $1700 to the Choral Shell sponsorship, which was raised at their 35th reunion. Thank you, PHS Class of 1971!

You can still add your group’s name to this plaque with a gift of $1500 or more! Contact PEF if you are interested in helping honor two remarkable long time music teachers at PHS.

PHS Studio Jazz Band Alumni:

The PHS jazz band alumni celebrating their 30th anniversary in June 2007.  Featured at the event was a stellar concert by the 2007 PHS Studio Band, which recently won first place at the prestigious Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival. At the event, the PHS Jazz Band Parents Association and Band alumni honored their long time directors with Seats in their honor. A retrospective slide show took many of the participants back to their high school times.
