Every year, the Princeton Education Foundation awards grants to educators, staff and administration across all of our schools. These programs bring excitement into the classroom and expose our children to a level of learning that far exceeds most public school standards. We work to ensure continued educational excellence in the Princeton Public Schools by providing financial support for innovative and progressive programs and improvements that enrich the academic experience.

For the second year in a row, a Teacher Mini-Grant was awarded for a wonderfully creative program that celebrates Chinese Hand Puppetry. John Witherspoon Middle School (JW) students in the seventh and eighth grade Mandarin classes worked with their Mandarin teachers and their Visual Arts teacher to create all of the elements needed to perform their own interpretations of this ancient, traditional art form. Working in groups of two, the students designed, built, and then presented their hand puppet shows in conversational Mandarin in the JW auditorium. A big thank you to Victoria Shen, Weefen Tsui, Claudia Luongo, and everyone involved in putting together this incredible program!
